2021… Starting off… right where we left off in 2020.
Geez. Kinda hard to focus on New Year resolutions with the world seemingly one match stick away from bursting into flames!
Someone once said, “Timing is everything.”
Another guy, the wisest guy ever, said, “There is a time for everything, and… a time to keep… a time for every deed.” Ecclesiastes Ch. 3
When it’s time… you need to keep time… and be on time with your timing.
Some guys who play baseball count off, “Thousand one…” as the ball is pitched; musicians count off, “1, 2, 3, 4” to kick off a rock song; and dancers, dancers count off in 8’s, “5, 6, 7, 8.”
Some timing issues are out of your control.
Like when my oldest daughter was born.
My wife’s water broke in the parking lot. When the nice nurse met us at the door, all slow, and polite, with a wheel chair…
My wife said urgently, “This is my third kid, and she’s on her way… call the doctor and meet me at the elevator!”
Come to think of it, my oldest daughter still does things on her own time.
And when you’re due… you’re due.
In 2021 my writing goals will be different. I feel like they have to be. Instead of having all this fun, I need to buckle down and get to work.
Because that’s what a professional would do.
But… timing is so important.
Here’s a good article by the professional yogi that I have discovered, concerning his take on timing.

This new January finds me finishing another book titled, “Carter’s Second Inning,” and working with Carter on his illustrations for the book.
That will be 6 books under my belt. I feel they show my current skill level.
2021 will also see me try to figure out the timing for marketing, last years book, ‘The Definite Dad’ and bringing it into a new light.
Along with starting the creative process for my ‘Emerging Man’ book, gathering notes, direction, and goals for it, also I will be branching out into the freelance article arena.
I’ve done a few articles in the past, and experienced… acceptance & rejection… but those were prospecting attempts… like testing the waters edge along a river… you just kinda mosey along, tossing your line in here and there… seeing if you get a nibble.

Now that I have a feel for the flow, I can check the charts to see what season I’m in. And if anythings biting.
I will be trying, in my weekly articles, to be a bit more time conscious, for the readers sake, by being topical & timely in my approach.
In the past, I, on purpose, avoided feeling like I was pandering to, or “HAVING TO” meet a perceived need of my readers to create a specific article, for a specific time. For example… doing a patriotic article on the Fourth of July.
I don’t like being made to feel forced into doing anything.
But… I think I have matured a tad bit, and walking with God has shown me that once you and Him are square… you realize… “it’s not about you.”
I may actually be missing an opportunity to talk to you about what is on your mind… depending on the time of year.
I’ll try to do better for you.
This time of year is the “down time”… the busyness of the end of the year has ebbed away; the new year celebration is over (your hangover may not be); but the days are still a little short; and the nights a bit too long and dark.
By the end of January though, we’ll have an extra hour of daylight, and the ladies will start hinting around about a Valentines Day present.
And even with February being so short, the cold and snow make the time drag on… making us look forward to March, and then…
There I go getting ahead of myself, and the ball, stepping all over the toes of my dancing partner… and ope! I got a bite… gotta go, see ya next time.
