The word ‘responsibility’ has been clanging around in my head for some time now. It has really come to the fore front of my thought at my new job.
Talking to God about it today has really been a mental trip. As you will learn below, the re- prefix means ‘to return to’ ‘again and again’. I have learned this before and God is showing me again.
We are given things by God. The main thing being… life.
Within that life we are given more things. Some good things and some bad things. Some rain and some sunshine.
When we don’t know God we often blame Him for our poor condition and wonder if he is real or not. When we do get to know Him we blame Him for all of our pain, doubts and worries.
We are acting very much like a spoiled child in both scenarios. We complain, disdain and treat harshly all those things in our lives that the good Lord has blessed us with. One of which is His written Word. We say we want to know Him, and yet we don’t take the one for sure item He has given us, in order to know Him.
One verse he has given me a long time ago is found in John 6:29 “This is the work of God… to believe in the one he has sent.” Believe in Jesus, that is the work of God. All of our other work, our job, our family, our volunteering, our ministry all fall under that verse, no matter where we are, our physical condition or the cost we may have to incur.
Being responsible for something means you are answerable to another for that something.
Gods word indicates that He is responsible for all authority. I have found that every position or title comes with a level of responsibility AND authority. If He has given me anything, and He has, then I am answerable to Him for that, and the secret to doing what I’m suppose to be doing with it is really no secret at all IF… IF… I know His Word. If I know His Word then I have all I need in order to handle the situation the way God would want me to handle it.
So today as I studied He led me back, he re-turned me, to His word of encouragement at John 6:29…
“The work of God is this… to believe in the one he has sent.”
