v. 9 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
v. 10 “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.“
~ Galatians 6:9,10
“sowing and reaping”
“as a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies and produces a hundred fold…”
“For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a person may be weighed down by misery.” ~ NIV Ecclesiastes 8:6
Urgency always seems to help to get something done.
What is that old saying?
“Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.”
Yep, that one.
Planning, schedules, stepping stones… even hitting a baseball, require a degree of good timing.
Knowing what you are “sowing” confirms what you will be “reaping” in due time or due season.
Corn begets corn, donkeys beget donkeys, and a rose by any other name would produce offspring that would come up still smelling just as sweet.
I think we can all relate to the pent up frustration of a five year old when they say, “Ok, BUT WHEN??”
As I continue on in the development of the Definite Dad and The Emerging Man brands I have journeyed up to the stepping stone of… proper timing.
Because I have never been this way before I do not have a clear picture of the finished product, and the water is running a little deep for me to see the next stepping stone clearly.
I can see something, just there, under the surface of the water, but the splashes and riffles, are interfering with my timing and I can’t get into a strong position for making good contact.
Now… in my past when I would meet an obstacle such as this I would just surge forward, somehow, pushing ahead, not really caring about the quality of the move, not worrying about getting wet… and generally mucking everything up.
Now I turn to God and ask, “What’s going on?”
He usually says, “Just wait.”
So I wait. And watch.
Those “Be Successful” books I’ve been reading, almost to a man, all will use this quote: “Carpe Diem”
“Seize the day!” They say.
I’ve been trying to schedule more things in my life in order to seize the day and not have it get away from me. The point at which the schedule goes out the window for me is when my adult children come around or my wife would like me to join her running errands, getting groceries, or what ever.
In my past, during other ‘business’ ventures, this would come up also and every time I would defer to my family. I know it took away from my allotted time for the business but my kids were little and I just couldn’t justify ignoring them in order to fix another car or catch another animal or paint another sign.
Now… I have the time. There isn’t that conflict.
But… I’ve never been here before, like I said earlier, so I have to ‘feel’ my way through, learn as I go, and ask a ton of questions (I’ve been reading like crazy) and… be careful when stepping onto the next stepping stone. It could be slippery.
2020 is closer than, “just around the corner” and I can’t wait. I’m learnin’ how to get in tune with the current seasons of time and doing those things that fit into that schedule.
I am currently on chapter twelve of the Definite Dad book, coming into one of the final legs of the race, with some editing, and some beta reading I’ll be ready for the new year!
I wish you and your families a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!
