The apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 2:11
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:
for we are not ignorant of his schemes.”
My experience in sports ended when I was a Sophomore in high school. Midway through football season. I had a good coach prior to that, Mr. Dean Peterson. Coach Peterson taught me how to go against guys bigger than me, he said, “Get their head moving where you want them to go and their feet will follow.” It worked to. In football and especially wrestling, where your head goes your body follows. So being on the small side I used that to my advantage by “messing with their head”.
So don’t be ‘ignorant’ of the devil’s schemes.
Have your mind clear and aware of what is going on.
There is a spiritual battle raging for the attention of your mind.
“What’s the oldest trick in the book?”
“Yep, made ya look!”
So here is a poem to get you thinking…
Opponents attack your head
to move your feet
in wrestling, football, even skeet
Attack the head
and move the feet
planting doubt and discouragement
for your defeat
Attacked with doubt
you stop and think
“But what about me?”
and you start to sink
Moving the feet
from standing firm
is like a car with no brakes
really scary
and
you can… crash and burn
Move the feet
by attacking the head
don’t know Jesus?
then your dead
Get a helmet
to protect your head
be drawn by God
for it is said…Â ‘Be still and know..”
Firmly planting your feet
on the foundation of Christ
crossing over from darkness
to stand firmly in life
(Read John 14:6)
