As ‘The Emerging Man’ I have endeavored to capture success along the way to it.
In hopes of creating a picture with words to help others determine what success means to them, to help show what tactics, habits or routines if learned and applied are truly universal components of success and help you attain success as those who promote success programs promise they will.
Here is how I have been looking at it.
- There is a successful person who has decided to share their knowledge of what they believed helped them along their journey. The Speaker.
- Their is a seminars worth of people listening to said expert and trying to glean some nugget of wisdom that they think will help them on their own journey to success. The Hearers.
- What I have noticed is that there is no one in between. A person who is implementing the successful steps in such a way as to model what works or not for others to see.
So you get me. A man in the gap.
Today’s article is a celebration of a goal met.
I was challenged by my publisher friend to get to 120 posts here on my website in exchange for helping me with my first book idea.
I accepted said challenge.
I looked at the calendar back in February and determined I had an opportunity to meet the goal by the end of March.
Game on!
I started out the first week cranking out words. So I stopped myself.
I determined to produce what I would consider a quality post over quantity, slowing down did put the end of March goal in jeopardy.
But I maintained a desire and committed to quality over quantity.
I started with my ‘The Emerging Man Chronicles: 2016 A Year in Review’ articles and I utilized those to practice putting together a series and learning what it takes to write a similar article everyday.
Writing is work, even when you have your notes written down and you are using your calendar as the backdrop to the articles.
One of my subscribers said he wasn’t reading them because he didn’t want to look at my calendar and so he missed the article component. He did go back and read a few after I told him each month had a topical article to it.
Dedication and commitment are powerful words and powerful tools, it takes you awhile to train your body and mind to handle them as the task at hand unfolds.
I didn’t do the greatest with the ‘Year in Review’ articles I missed a few days and had to really exert mental energy to find the topic that each month was hiding and then exert myself again to extract it out.
But just like any pile of work, when you stay at it, it gets done.
I was pleased so far, I was learning what it takes to be an every day writer and developed a greater appreciation for the industry and those who write everyday for a living.
Needless to say I thought the end of March goal was shot in the butt, but, I felt my articles were the best I could produce for my young writing career.
