I like to learn.
I have noticed though that often times I do not process the feedback I gain from a perceived loss.
In archery it is easy. You shoot the arrow, and in a millisecond, you have new information to process. The information does not cause you to feel bad about yourself. It is just information, and you can use it to tweak your equipment, and shooting form, to get better. It’s fun. The celebration is built in when you hit your mark.
“Bullseye! Wooo Hoo!”
You can be proud of yourself. Go ahead!
When we are little and do not get feedback from our father that he is proud of us… it is hard for us to appreciate ourselves as we age and mature, and to truly believe and trust in ourselves.
The thing we have to learn is that we are sufficient, that our perception of our self is really what matters.
“What a person desires is unfailing love;” ~ Proverbs 19:22
I’ve discovered that I do not celebrate my personal victories with a personal celebration.
Ok, you know the drill… we have to look at the word first. Using good ol’ Merriam-Webster.

Thank you Emerging Man for this great reminder! I find it easy to celebrate others but not myself. Scripture says God “Dances over us with Joy!” I am grateful to have a Father like that! Hope I can learn to celebrate like He does!
