I haven’t been very professional in my writing lately. I’ve been writing but not very purposefully.
That bugs me.
I have discovered about myself that any endeavor I may embark on has to have an end game, a purpose or otherwise my brain and body do not commit wholeheartedly.
Now don’t get me wrong the purpose could be to just veg out watching an old movie, having some silly fun or spending time with your daughter watching ‘The Bachelor’ even though that is the most mind numbing television I have ever seen. Crystal, really, come on.
All of the professional writing tips I have discovered all say the same thing, or two things, depending how you look at it.
- decide if you are writing for a hobby orÂ
- decide if you would like a career in writing
Either way a decision has to be made.
I like books so I have started to write short stories and I indie publish them with createspace.com and sell them on Amazon.

My goal is 5 by the end of April.
Here is another thing both the writing tips and my famous writer example say to do… write every day, a thousand words a day, everyday. If you want a career in it you have to be doing it.
The other thing they both say… create a writing schedule.
Alrighty then… now another thing I would like to do with my schedule and specifically a few of the days of the week is to honor my mom and dad. To help me cover two days worth of ideas I have taken two days and dedicated one to my dad and one to my mom.
Thursday for dad, which is kinda funny as he was a bartender for most of his life, get it, Thirsty Thursday, didn’t really mean to do it but I didn’t know he was born on it.
And Sunday for mom, she was born on the Lords day and if ever you needed to rest, her couch was the best. Maybe because it was where I grew up and you always nap the best at your moms house.
So on Sundays I want to start sharing my moms articles, as she wrote them, years ago, some published in the local paper and some not, just cool old letters and such.
And on Thursdays for dad some outdoor articles, as that is where I spent some time with my dad, not nearly enough though, but some.
The rest of the week will be filled in with website posts, book projects and maybe some ‘flash fiction’ if I can figure out what that is.

And He shall direct your paths.”
Deuteronomy 5:16
16 ‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
