James 3:4,5
“4Â Or take ships as an example.
Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.
5Â Likewise, the tongue…”
You already made your start.
By coming over and agreeing to go on this little trip.
Mr Danforth writes on page 117 of ‘I Dare You’, “There are two great parts to any program – the start and the finish. You have made your start and I want to urge you to finish.”
“Don’t be tempted to Dare beyond your capacity.”
“In order to make your Dares definite, write them down. Fix a date for their accomplishment.”
Great advice. Take it to heart.
I have.
I had a meeting with a few friends at work the other day and they had invited one more to lunch.
A friend of a friend.
Lot’s of great conversation and ‘dare I say’ even a conversion.
The thing about the lunch, though I did not realize it going in, we were ‘doing’ the things Mr Danforth and Jesus and Sun Tzu write about.
We gathered our forces, we had a great dialogue, we shared our convictions, knowing that we were in an accepting environment, and I believe we all were the richer for it.
It started with me asking one to lunch, then another joined in and then another until there were four.
Yea, the number four has been a theme lately, don’t get hung up on the number.
Because, you might think it is all coincidence and we don’t believe in coincidence, remember.
I think we go through that, yea I did too. I have come to look at those things as God’s perfect timing and orchestrating of events.
It’s a blessing that I get to be aware of the happenings via confirmations along the way from God such as the number 4 coming up more that once.
See, ya made me do it, see how easy it is to take your attention off of what is truly important.
Where was I, oh yea.
So… there was four of us and I realized we were all there of our own accord, together we had an abundance of gifts such as, 8 eyes, 8 ears, 4 minds, 8 hands, 8 feet, and a million new ideas because we were willing to share and receive from one another.
It lines up with Mr Danforth’s four square program.
It lines up with Jesus.
Where?
In Luke chapter 6 verse 38
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
I can tell you, you are on the right path, continue on in it, “little by little”, one scheduled goal at a time.
It takes no effort to turn a rudder and a ships Captain only has to correct course a few degree’s at a time or he risks over correcting and still potentially getting lost.
Start by telling yourself, “Today’s the Day!”
Like it says in John chapter 13 verse 17,
“Now that you know these things,
you will be blessed if you do them.”
‘I Dare You!’
