God has a perfectly timed delivery.
Stan Laurel did too. And Johnny Carson, although Johnny said he just copied Stan. Stan must have copied God. Dean Martin was the last great straight man that I know of, and that requires impeccable timing.
I thought I understood what had transpired with Him removing my depression. But God waited for just the right moment.
As I was reading John 16:20 for my other post,
“;and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.”
Turned into joy!
It really dawned on me what God does…
God takes a thing and turns it into something else completely. He takes death and turns it into life. He takes unbelief and turns it into belief! He takes distrust and turns it into faith. Weakness into strength. Water into wine. Darkness into light.
My darkness has been turned into light. That is a miracle.
I now can, hopefully, explain to someone the light of Jesus because he has trained me through the darkness, my darkness, I was the darkness, according to His word. I know the difference now.
Yes, both are real and can be experienced.
You do not have to succumb to the darkness or despair. I have now experienced both joy AND utter despair and can speak intelligently about both. In the words of Dylan Thomas, “Rage, rage against the dying of the light”, be reconciled to God, cry out to Him and be healed!
To God His glory. Instead of trying to come up with the words to explain where I am and what has happened to me, I will let God’s Word do that.
1 Peter 2:7-12
“7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious.
But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”[a]
8 and,
“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”[b]
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession,
that you may declare the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
11 Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.
12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”
