As I stated in my “Writing’s” page I will be using 1 Corinthians 8:2 “Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know” as a ‘towering pine landmark’ for my ’emerging’. To use it to get my bearings.
So after I had the grouse I had shot in my pocket and quit hunting for the day ‘I thought’ I had found ‘the mark’ but as it was a feeling it did pass. Like all feelings do. Don’t get me wrong I love grouse hunting, training the dog and being in the woods.
Success though it seems continued to elude me.
Even more so than those wild flushing grouse!
So just like an amiable American Draft Cross I kept plodding along.
Friday November 25th 2016 God revealed his word to me from     1 Peter Chapter 5 verse 2.
“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care,
serving as overseers – not because you must – but because you are willing,
as God wants you to be;Â
This reminded me of Matthew 8:2-3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing” he said.
So Jesus is willing.
I am willing also.
Then as I was thinking about all the things I thought I did not accomplish, God says “What are you talking about?” “Look what you did…” and he reminded me that my physical labor over the last 19 years, almost twenty years now has directly benefited the lives of 7,108 children.
He reminded me of 12 plus years of running the summer baseball leagues and all those kid’s (3900), he reminded me of my day job at Rawhide Boy’s Ranch where all my labor goes to support the mission of helping the boys (3360), and my own kids (5) and my ‘other daughters’ (3) Â plus a few other folks he has had me take care of.
As he was reminding me, I thought of my parents. They were known to help a kid or two in their time (100’s) and so I said to myself,
“Mom and Dad had their hundreds and David had his thousands.”
I thought I would feel proud or something but instead I was crushed by God’s love. Moved to tears at one point. I never realized what he had me doing at the time. Was it a lot of work. Sure. But I’m all about work, it needed doing and it was to make it nice for the kid’s. I was trying to do my best and most time’s it turned out pretty good.
“as God wants you to be;”  There it is. True success. Be willing.
AS GOD WANTS YOU TO BE! If you are willing I believe you give it your best shot, no matter what. God loves that. He is the one responsible for the increase. It’s His flock. You are the servant overseeing the flock. Taking care of it like Adam was to do in the garden.
‘As God wants you to be’ also removes you from the up’s and down’s and twist and turns of the proverbial emotional roller coaster. Focus on being willing, being present and being aware of what is really going on, then focus on doing your best, giving your best effort and don’t worry about the details swirling around you.
Now I know. As I ought to know.
Thank you Lord.
